Playin the blame game again. Air drier tech comes in to look at high head trips. Says insuffecient tower water.

The tower is my problem. Looked at drier, found 135 deg liquid line, 91 deg water leaving 2-pass barrel.

Barrel has 70 inlet 94 outlet, head is close to 350 with 135 deg liquid.

I say the tubes need to be punched, tower is fine.

He comes back n says 24 deg delta means the barrel is removing enough heat.

I get called back. My thoughts- we have 135 deg liquid. We have 94 deg water leaving the barrel. This barrel is NOT removing enough heat. Or- it is but only after a large temp difference between refr and water. That's a 40 deg approach on a two pass.

He gets called back. Offers to troubleshoot the tower on T+M. Increases high pressure trip point and leaves.

And now I'm back. We read 45 psi on the tower line, I have two old finicky centrifugals in the same room on the same tower running fine.

Thing is I called drier company tech support to find out design approach. They couldn't say, but said is sounds like I have low tower volume. That really made me start to loose confidence. What do you guys see?

Sure there isn't a strainer hid somewhere? 24 TD is quite a bit, looks like you aren't moving enough water, but the tubes being plugged could also do that

drier tech is a jerkoff. 135 degree liquid line with leaving water of 91, no way you are getting accurate heat transfer. what happens on a hot day when tower water is at 85 entering? simple, machine trips. your leaving water will be nearly 110 degrees! your liquid line will be 150!!

you either have low flow or dirty tubes. I have to believe its a dirty exchanger, slely based on him thinking a 40 degree approach is cool. let me guess....zeks?

You need the design delta P & T for that condenser.

I think it was vanair, I'm not in there right now. The plant guys are punching tubes and installing gauges. They were supposed to be done at 330 and it's a lil tense for my liking.

I'm going to gaze at the tower till I get the text that their done....

Maybe the pressure drop is a lot less through the chillers and this is not letting enough through the drier.

225 psi from 350. I didn't think they were gonna let us take it down. So glad they did.
