Contractor on heat pump pulls out when disconnect plugged in?

    Yes. The off peak relay is typically powered with the disconnect and will always open for 10 minutes or so, once energized.

    HP s have gotten more standard thru the industry but dial it back 25-30 years and they had wide variety of differences. Energize on heat some were energize on cool. Trane had a T terminal Lennox had an X terminal. The GE weather trons were a pain in the ass. Breaking common wires and don't try putting the cover on with it powered up.
    Even with things being more standard people still find a way to screw it up. Our install crew replaced 2 RTU heat pumps and installed HP stats only they were Carriers. I go out on a service call. Carrier packaged HP units use conventional stats.

    At least they took the emergency heat light off,used to get calls a 3 AM about it, then trying to convince them it will be fine until it warms up or just the next morning

    It was the emergency thing that would get them shook up
