Any recommendations for a good, not too expensive Infrared Thermometer? Just mainly for checking supply registers. I have the UEI air velocity tester, does temp, cfm, humidity, but you got to hold in up close. Some of these commercial vents are a little high up,to say the least. Even guns with a ten foot range won't cut it!

I have a cheap fluke ir. I hardly use it. It seems to work tho.

Truth is I had an extra $100 to blow and I was on a tool binge.

You're better off with long t'couple leads and 2 ft sections of 1/2 EMT and some couplings to extend to the diffuser to get an accurate reading

All the infrared thermometers I have seen average the reading after about a foot

Damn I remember the first one I got was about $750, everybody thought it was soooo cool, after about an hour I figured out I had royally screwed the pooch and dumped it off on some poor soul

All you need to read is a temperature change, not the actual temperature.

Remember you guy's told me a big word meaning it is more accurate if if is painted black.
