I have an issue with a 5 ton split, similar to the one James was having, damn near zero super heat.
2004 Rheem condenser on the roof, original scroll
    2014 Nordyne air handler GB3BM-060K-CB
78° ambient, 79° on the stat
Low side 60psig, hp was 175
Suction line temp is 33, one degree under the evap -1 sh
    Piston is a 93
The suction pipe froze up at the compressor 2 or 3 times while I jacked with it. This is an up flow in a closet sitting on a sheet metal ra can, filter on the side is 20x25 and howling like a mf.

Return static .21 with the filter and .40 without the filter
supply static stayed pretty much at .11
Compressor pumps down all the way, and head goes 375 when we cover the condenser fan.

Is the problem with the evap coil? I'm sorta wondering if there is a design issue.
