Recently finished tubing, wiring, evacuating and charging my trainer. Firing that thing up after starting out with a pile of parts was freaking sweet. She won't win any beauty contests, but she is the prettiest one in class.

@doc havoc in a pinch, can I just install a service valve or ball valve for metering?

Yes. Same thing @oroy54 did on his snowman/girl. He used a needle valve, but any refrigerant rated valve will work.

One time I had an ancient goodman mini split that was overfeeding the coil by a lot, and slugging the compressor with liquid. The piston was behind the indoor head and I did not feel like tearing into such an old piece of junk. I cranked in service valve at the outdoor unit until my superheat was on target. A little sweat on the liquid line never hurt anybody :)

Building a fan shroud is what proves a man. And your liquid strap is cool
