What are you guys seeing with these? they seem to be dropping like flies and harder to get because of the rush on them this year, most of the ones Ive seen are the bearings so tight it wont run, Im thinking its due to high static pressure? or are they just crap?

I have found a couple where the magnets have either broken loose or the magnets have crumbled.....

The ones I've replaced chunked one of the magnets. It will lock the motor down tight, sometimes a very slight movement.

I have one client that's lost six on a new construction project in W/S North Carolina. I may be making a road trip soon to investigate.

I've found several of the x13 failures on vsd's. Seems to be related to high static pressures but this is only a pattern I've noticed and not confirmed.

I have changed a lot of these motors this summer. Most where x13 blower motors.
In most case I have found real high static pressure on these system.

I have been putting in Mars Digi-Techs. They cost a lot less than a x-13. I have had a few that the customers where on there 3. They wanted something different.

This a choiceto there needs. I know a lot of other techs are changing these to PSC motor retrofits.

But, what I have noticed is these x-13 motors will not last long on a bad duct system.

This is what the trade is going threw right now. You just cannot throw one of these system together any more. There is no wiggle room on todays high efficiency units. You have to look at the installation manuals.

Same as refrigeration piping . The old r-22 system had 1 1/8 suction and 3/8 liquid . Now you change it to r-410. Will it work or will it suck ?

If they put capacitors on the X13 motors I think they would run better.

When I bought the new furnaces for my parents house I tried to get belt drive.

But all anyone carried was furnaces with direct drive blowers, to get belt drive would have been extra lead time.
